Review of the Global Focal Point for Police, Justice and Corrections
The UN works to strengthen the rule of law in the police, justice and corrections areas in some of the world’s most volatile places. Since 2012, the UN Global Focal Point for Police, Justice and Corrections provides a united front for overall UN assistance in these areas, with a view to preventing violent conflict.
Its aim is to provide better police, justice and corrections services from UN Headquarters to UN peacekeeping missions, special political missions and non-mission settings.
A first review of the UN Global Focal Point for Police, Justice and Corrections was published in 2014, by FBA, the Netherlands Institute of International Relations (Clingendael), and the Stimson Center.
This is a second review, published in 2018 by FBA, Center on International Cooperation and Norwegian Institute of International Affairs.
It evaluates how the UN Global Focal Point for Police, Justice and Corrections has contributed to joint working arrangements that have produced real outcomes on the ground in post-conflict and crisis situations.
