
Almost half of the respondents mention lack of access to shelters as a major security issue.
The Swedish network of women peace mediators was created in late 2015, by the FBA upon request from the Swedish Ministry of Foreign Affairs. In turn, the Swedish network is part of a Nordic network of women peace mediators with around 100 members.
The Nordic Women Mediators, NWM, hold annual meetings to discuss topical issues and exchange experiences. The 2017 meeting was held in Helsinki on November 21-22. Among other things, the participants shared new experiences from the peace processes in Colombia, Afghanistan, Syria and Somalia.
Following the meeting the NWM made a joint statement, click here to read. In the statement it is underlined that women are still underrepresented in peace processes around the world and a call is made for strengthened inclusion of women in the international work for peace.
The next annual meeting will be held in autumn 2018 in Denmark.
