On 5-7 December 2018, FBA hosted a joint UN learning forum on youth, peace and security. This is an executive summary of the forum that was held at the island of Sandö, Sweden.
The forum was designed and implemented in collaboration with the UN Development Programme (UNDP), the UN Department for Political Affairs (DPA), the UN Department of Peacekeeping Operations (DPKO), the UN Peacebuilding Support Office (PBSO), the UN Population Fund (UNFPA) and the Office of the UN Secretary-General’s Envoy on Youth.
In total 23 professionals, among them 15 women and 8 men, participated in the learning forum. The participants came from all the above mentioned organizations, as well as from UN Women, UNICEF, the UN Verification Mission in Colombia, UN Assistance Mission in Iraq, UN Assistance Mission in Somalia, and the UN Interim Administration Mission in Kosovo. Two non-UN youth representatives, one from Colombia and one from Kosovo, also participated during the first day of the learning forum.
The purpose of the forum was to foster joint learning and capacity
development for UN entities currently implementing the agenda on youth, peace and security.
