The 1325 Scholarship was established in memory of gender equality expert and peacebuilder Zaida Catalán.
This handbook provides people who are not lawyers or investigators with the basic knowledge needed to correctly identify, gather and forward information on possible international crimes to international criminal courts and tribunals, and to understand what is expected of witnesses testifying in international criminal trials.
The handbook also explains how investigations of international crimes are conducted and what type of information, obvious and less obvious, investigators need from the field. By explaining the nature of these procedures and working principles, the handbook aims also to enhance the security of the international staff in the field as well as their sources.
