10 years of UNSCR 2250: FBA's support to meaningful youth participation
Across every generation, young people have challenged injustice through peaceful action, driven movements for equality, and championed peace within their communities and far beyond. This year, we recognize the 10th anniversary of the adoption of the UN Security Council Agenda 2250 for Youth, Peace and Security.
Despite their legacy as catalysts for peaceful change, young people’s contributions for peace and security have often been simplified. They have frequently been portrayed as victims of armed conflict, or, at the other extreme,as its perpetrators.
In 2015, after persistent youth-led advocacy, the world took a significant step forward: the UN Security Council acknowledged the vital and positive role of young people in promoting peace by unanimously adopting the 2250 Agenda on Youth, Peace and Security.
2025 marks the anniversary of this landmark recognition of youth as essential partners in building and sustaining peace and security.
FBA is proud of the close collaboration with young people and partners from the local to the international level, which has contributed to concrete progress across the YPS agenda.
