Our mission
The world is experiencing historically high levels of conflict, and the security situation is serious. Managing and preventing conflicts has never been more important. We draw on our expertise and work in cooperation with international organisations, national and local institutions and representatives of civil society to help develop long-term solutions for peace and security.
How We Create Change
FBA works closely with international organisations, public institutions, and civil society in conflict-affected countries. We have broad expertise in a range of areas related to building resilience to conflict and strengthening democratic and inclusive societies.
Our support takes a variety of forms, and each initiative is tailored to the needs of the country and our partners. We provide advisory services, training, and facilitation of dialogue. In addition, we second personnel to civilian peace operations and develop networks that strengthen local actors. Ultimately, all our efforts aim to enhance our partners’ own capacity to promote peace and security. Through this approach, we contribute to:

By strengthening the capacity of relevant key actors, we enable them to lead change and address challenges in peace and security independently. By contributing to ongoing peace processes, we foster opportunities for sustainable and inclusive solutions with strong local ownership.
Our approach is informed by both current research and proven practice. We conduct and support research within our areas of expertise to ensure that our activities are grounded in the most up-to-date knowledge on how to achieve real and lasting change.

Peace Processes
When all voices are heard in peace processes, the chances of lasting peace increase. We work to ensure that peace processes are inclusive and locally grounded, which builds trust and strengthens society’s capacity to manage conflicts peacefully.
Democratic Resilience
When societies are governed fairly and inclusively, the risk of renewed conflict is reduced. By safeguarding human rights, the rule of law, and participation, we foster trust in institutions and confidence between groups.
