New report: Professionalizing Rule of Law
Who works in the field of rule of law, and how can donor organizations better match the global needs in the field? A research project at the Australian National University, supported by the FBA, seeks to establish an answer to this question. As part of the project, the report “Professionalizing Rule of Law: Issues and Directions” is now being launched. The report draws upon 100 survey responses and follow-up interviews with rule of law practitioners, and a survey among participants at the FBA rule of law course. It describes how rule of law is included in almost all peace operations of today, and contains an analysis of the challenges within the field. Read the full report here.
On 11 June, the report will be launched in Stockholm. The launch will begin with a short presentation of the main findings by the authors, Veronica Taylor, Professor of Lawn and Dean, College of Asia and the Pacific, Australian National University, and Kristina Simion, PhD student at Australian National University and desk officer at the FBA’s rule of law programme. The presentation will be followed by a round table discussion on how the rule of law field can be further strengthened and professionalized.
