Why did you apply for the FBA’s Gender Adviser Course?
– I found the course on the Internet. I had heard of the FBA before, so I applied. This is my first time in Sweden, it is very nice!

What do you wish to learn during the course?
– I have been working as a Gender Adviser for ten years. This adds to my knowledge and experience. Hopefully, I will be even better at my job when I get back.

What do you do at your job, really?
– I help the UNAMID to gender-mainstream all activities. I also want to help my entire community, by fighting early marriage and female genital mutilation. And I am involved in a project that seeks to create jobs for women, so that they can support themselves. But I do encounter resistance from local leaders. I just try to accept it.

The Swedish Women’s Mediation Network is expanding

Seven new members have been elected to the Swedish Women’s Mediation Network. The network was established by the Swedish government in 2015 and is coordinated by FBA. The mediation network now consists of 21 Swedish women with extensive experience in dialogue and peace mediation.
