Field Strategies for Civilian Protection
One of these proposed means is to provide proactive presence by unarmed international personnel in areas of conflict under a variety of institutional mandates.
The course aims at strengthening the ability of unarmed staff, deployed to international peace missions, to protect civilians. Participants will learn and practice a variety of strategies to discourage abuse through information management, visibility, advocacy and empowerment. The methodology is highly interactive with a strong focus on exercises and group discussions.
This course is aimed at professionals who work in international organizations or non-governmental organizations in conflict areas. The course is useful for a wide category of functions, including those working in human rights and protection, monitoring and observation, humanitarian aid, civilian administration, and community policing.
